Dear Bride / Groom to be:
Congratulations on your Engagement!
With times so hectic prior to a wedding, one of the most
important aspects of the reception is the entertainment.

We understand that cost is always a consideration, and we balance our charges with quality, experienced, professional service.
At the end of the evening when your guests are on their way home, don't you want them to be talking about what a great time they had at your reception? Of course, nobody wants their reception to be remembered as having one of the worst DJ's the guests had ever heard. And memories of the night will last a lifetime.
Playing wedding receptions for over 30 years has taught us many things, and feedback from clients through all those years carries some important messages.
1. You generally get what you pay for, although paying the most for a DJ doesn't guarantee your satisfaction.
2. Beware of DJ's that claim they're experts and will play your wedding for $300 or $400. Five, ten or sometimes 15 years' experience does not guarantee true professionalism... and it is false economy to hire a bottom-of-the-barrel DJ for a night so important. It will be obvious in the DJ's inability to play all requests, lack of flexibility from lack of experience, poor sound quality for large halls, with no assistant on-hand to speak with guests about their requests (because a truly professional DJ is very busy throughout the night ensuring your reception goes exactly as you have planned it).
3. It is YOUR night. The DJ should always be in the background, never stealing your thunder, always keeping the bride and groom in the spotlight. Yet, how many receptions have you attended where the DJ stole the show, danced center stage and generally acted a fool?
The DJ is also the Master of Ceremonies (MC) during a reception, and selecting the right one is not something most people do very often. Here is what we have to offer, and a few things for you to consider when making your decision.
When we began playing mobile music in 1979, wedding receptions were predominantly what we did. Because most receptions have a diverse age group - from young to old - the importance of being able to play music from the Big Band era of the 40's up to the current Pop sounds of today cannot be understated. Be sure you select the right DJ/MC with experience in pleasing all age groups with a wide selection of music and a great light show, and your guests will fondly remember your reception.
Tunes to Go offers top quality musical selections with one of the
largest musical libraries consisting of all types of music,
professional sound equipment and custom lighting system. We are personable, play requests, and will work with you during the entertainment planning process to identify songs to be played at specific times. (Refer to our song list suggestions for mother/son, dad/daughter, dollar dance and other tunes).
DJ G prefers to meet with our clients face-to-face to answer any questions you may have, help in counseling you for selecting the timing of events, and to get to know both the bride and groom in advance of the reception. This extra step and detail we provide for no extra charge, and it will help ensure everything goes smoothly during your reception. It also helps add a level of comfort in knowing your DJ before your important night.
The following is a break down
of what we offer.
MUSICAL SELECTIONS: We have over
50,000 selections of Country, Top-40, Big Band/Swing,
Club Dance, Oldies, R&B, Jazz, Alternative, New & Classic Rock, and of course, Disco. Our library is constantly
growing. Since we use all-digital technology, we carry about 44,000 songs to each event.. And when someone requests a song, most often we have it, can find it and play it within a minute or two. DJs still using CDs have to carry hundreds of CDs, often take hours to find a request among the myriad of CDs, and many times can't play the request at all simply because they're limited to carrying a few hundred songs. Our use of cutting edge technology puts us heads and shoulders above the competition... in such a way that will make your reception a memorable experience for you and your guests. Flexibility, learned through 30 years' experience, is a key to the success of any wedding reception. And NO, we do not use I-pods, simply because they have very little capability to search/find songs with a large song library, and they often use Internet-downloaded music which is of low quality when pushed with power. (I-Pods work fine for headphones, but put them with 4,000 watts of power through quality speakers and you can hear an obvious difference) . As you check out various DJ's, ask them if they use I-Pods, and if they say yes, you may be talking to the wrong service. We never use Internet-downloaded music for this reason.
SOUND SYSTEM: A diverse music selection
doesn't mean anything unless you have a quality sound system with speakers capable of handling large auditoriums without distorting, cracking or feeding back.
Our sound system is composed of digital professional-grade equipment. This provides a crisp and clean concert style sound.
LIGHTING SYSTEM: Frankly, lights set the mood. Effective January 1, 2006 we no longer charge extra for lights. They just add too much to the event to dicker over a few extra dollars. The lights are on dual pillars and microphoned so they pulse & move to the music. A little additional time is required to set them up, but we allow for that and arrive a little earlier at no extra cost to you.
THE DISC JOCKEY: Glenn Miller, simply called DJ G, has been playing music for large crowds since 1975, including some of the most legendary discos in the Midwest. Please click on 'About Us' to learn more about his experience. Glenn will ensure your reception runs smoothly, announcements are made at the proper time, and the remote microphone is made available for toasts and roasts. He always brings an assistant as a guest interface, but is always glad to talk with the guests throughout the evening to help them remember "that one song they can't remember the title of, or who does it, but it goes like this...." :)
DJ G never takes a break.... meaning that there will never be 'dead silence' during your reception. That's important in keeping a crowd together.
Something else to think about: DJ G plays all of his clients' receptions personally... never delegating it off to a wanna-be DJ in training, as many other outfits do. You meet with him in person prior to your reception, you'll see him there during your reception, and he'll be providing the entertainment all evening. The down-side of this, of course, is that there are only so many weekends, only so many available evenings. That's why you'll see it here on the website over and over... don't delay in booking him if you want true professional entertainment at your reception.
Companies who have many DJs working for them are all about making more of the almighty dollar. Sure, DJ G could train more DJs and send them off to his clients... but money is not what this is about. His philosophy is QUALITY FIRST, QUALITY ALWAYS -- and the only way he can guarantee performances to the client is to do it personally. As time has shown, with thousands of satisifed people who have hired and heard him perform, sometimes less is more, especially when it comes to adding more DJs.
