    Wedding Reception - Price Rates

In a hurry? Click here if you want the essence of this page's contents without reading a lot.

For more specific information on what we do and our rates, just read on...

How many wedding receptions have you been to where you can't remember much, except how badly the band performed? Or how poor the DJ's equipment sounded? Your guests won't remember whether the cake was chocolate or vanilla, but they will remember the quality of the entertainment. Unfortunately, the negatives can outweigh the beauty of your wedding day and reception if the entertainment is sub-par.

But the good news is this: High quality, experienced and professional entertainment will be fondly remembered by you and your guests for many years.

After DJ'ing for more than 30 years, our clients' feedback sheets illustrate what they consider to be of top importance when selecting a DJ for their reception. They encourage couples planning their wedding reception to use these items on their checklist when interviewing DJ companies getting quotes.

    1. Don't scrimp on entertainment cost.
If you're on a budget, cut corners on the caterer or photographer... not on the entertainment.

    2. Don't assume the highest quote is the best DJ.
Just because an entertainment company spends more in advertisement and yellow page ads doesn't mean they're better. It just means they have higher operating costs that get passed on to their clients.

    3. Hire the professional.
Some firms boast that they have 10 or 20 units and DJs working for them. Do you want someone responsible for your special night that's effectively a DJ-in-training? Hire a firm that guarantees you'll get THE professional.

    4. Playing song requests from the guests.
This means you need to ask what format the entertainment company uses. Since playing requests is so important to the overall success of the evening, why do most DJs show up with some CDs and/or I-Pod? Using that format, it severely limits 1) their ability to play all requests because their minimal search & find utilities, and 2) inability to bring the tens-of-thousands of songs that a diverse age group found at wedding receptions requires.

Why you need to get a quote from us...

Tunes-To-Go carries over 40,000 songs to each reception -- from 1930 up to next month's releases. CDs and IPods are good for backup, but we play entirely from laptop computers -- that can find your guests' requests in seconds.

So often, guests will say 'There's this really cool song but I don't know who does it or the title.' No problem for us. Using state-of-the-art equipment, we can even let a guest listen to various songs on headphones to find their song. It's just another way that we stay out in front from the other DJ crowds. You need this level of professionalism at your reception.

Being in this business for over 30 years, we're aware what other DJ companies charge. You'll find some are more expensive, others cheaper. We encourage you to shop around, focusing on the important items listed above, when considering and making your decision on entertainment for your reception. With Tunes-To-Go, you will get what you pay for. Your 100% satisaction is guaranteed.

Our wedding reception rate depends on several factors, so please have these answers ready when you call us for a quote:

    Date
Since we don't use other DJs, call to make sure we're available for the event. We are already booking for 2009, but dates are still available in 2008.

Location of reception (hall) and city.
The size of the hall will dictate how much equipment (speakers, amps, lights, etc.) that we'll be using. Set-up and take-down time can vary because of the amount of equipment required. Drive-time is always a factor and we'll need to know the city where the reception is being held in order to be punctual. (Note: We've played from Chicago to Cairo, Indianapolis to Kansas City... but there will be a small charge for events further than 60 miles from Belleville, IL. -- St. Louis and surrounding cities (i.e. St. Charles, St. Peters, Chesterfield, Arnold) are included within the 60 mile radius).

    Number of guests.
In conjunction with size of hall, this number gives us a good idea how much power will be needed on the dance floor.

    Length of time of reception.
Quote will be for 4, 5 or 6 hours depending on your needs. If you decide to extend the time played, only $100 p/hour ensures your guests will be able to dance the night away.

What's included with the quote you'll receive:

Lights -- that make the event feel special.
Our lights are all microphoned, which allow them to move and pulse to the music. Be aware that some of our competitors charge extra for a couple blue lights that you'd find on top of a police car or at your local K-Mart.

    Constant music
We take no breaks so there is never a moment without music at your reception. We provide background music for the mixer as guests arrive, dinner music during the meal, and dance music after the cake cutting and bouquet/garter toss events.

    Your special songs
As you complete the reception information sheet, you'll see there are places to fill in the songs to be played for the bride/groom, bride/father, mother/groom, and wedding party dances. You'll also see places to rate music you want (and don't want) played and other categories of songs you want to hear during the evening.

There are no hidden costs or charges with our quote. The only variable will be if you decide to have us play longer into the evening ($100 p/hr as stated above).

We also coordinate the evening's events with the photographer and videographer, announce the wedding party upon arrival, and make the remote microphone available for toasts at the front table and benediction before the meal. If you're using a wedding planner, we meet with them beforehand and help coordinate everything during the reception itself. Everything you see listed here is included when you call to get a quote from us.

Note: Effective January 1, 2006 we will not play events on the 2nd level of the Cheshire Inn in Clayton MO because they have no elevator to accommodate the size & weight of our equipment. (If you have guests with handicapped requirements, be aware the Cheshire cannot accommodate them on the 2nd level).

It's your wedding reception... one of the most important days of your life. Tunes To Go guarantees our performance will meet your expectations. We sign our names on the contract and deliver what we promise, every time.

    Thanks for your consideration.

Our starting prices are listed on the brochure, along with more specific information, including our toll-free number, cell phones and personal (direct) email address. We apologize that you have to download the page, but we do this to cut down on spammers and telemarketers... the scourge of the Internet.

We urge you not to delay in booking your reception's entertainment. There are many floral shops, many printers for your invitations, many tuxedo rental stores... but the professional DJ/MC with the great reputation may be booked a year or more in advance. Don't wait 'til it's too late to get your entertainment locked in.
